Performance & Web Vitals Audit
Get a structured audit of your site's performance — Core Web Vitals, bundle, render path, and images — with a fix list ranked by user impact, not academic completeness.
Performance work done wrong produces a long list of recommendations, most of which have negligible real-world effect. Done right, it starts with measurement, finds the two or three root causes responsible for most of the problem, and fixes those. I work from Lighthouse, CrUX, and bundle analysis — not guesses — and I deliver fixes as code, not a slide deck.
This is for teams who've noticed poor Core Web Vitals or PageSpeed scores and want someone to diagnose and fix the real issues, for apps going through a pre-launch quality pass, and for e-commerce or SaaS products where load time measurably affects conversions.
Who this is for
- Teams seeing poor Core Web Vitals or PageSpeed scores that aren't sure where the problem is
- E-commerce and SaaS apps where load time directly affects conversion rates
- Teams about to launch who want a performance baseline set before users arrive
What you get
Baseline report
Lighthouse and CrUX data showing where the score is now and which metrics are the actual problem.
Bundle analysis
What's in the JavaScript bundle, what shouldn't be, and what can be split, deferred, or removed.
Render-path audit
LCP, CLS, and INP root-cause analysis — the specific elements causing the metric failures.
Image and font strategy
Format, sizing, lazy-loading, and preloading decisions that remove common sources of LCP and CLS.
Third-party audit
Which scripts are blocking render, which are worth the cost, and which aren't.
Applied fixes
The remediation implemented in the codebase, not just listed. Re-measured after each change.
How the engagement runs
- 01
Baseline measurement
Lighthouse, CrUX field data, and bundle analysis run before anything is touched.
- 02
Root-cause analysis
The two or three things actually responsible for the score, traced to specific code or assets.
- 03
Prioritised fix list
Issues ranked by user impact, not by audit score — a short list that moves the needle.
- 04
Implement fixes
Code changes applied, each re-measured to confirm the impact.
- 05
Sign-off report
Before and after scores, what changed, and a short guide for keeping it fast as the site evolves.
Engagement options
Architecture Audit
An honest read on what's already built
1–2 weeks
Teams inheriting a codebase, pre-fundraise diligence, or diagnosing 'why is this so slow'.
- Codebase, infrastructure, and cost review
- Written findings ranked by risk and effort
- A prioritized remediation plan
- A walkthrough call to go through the findings
MVP Sprint
Idea to shipped product, fast
4–8 weeks
Founders who need a real, usable v1 in front of users this quarter.
- Scoping workshop and a written technical plan
- Production build — app, API, database, auth, deployment
- CI/CD and a live deployment you own
- Regular demo checkpoints, async updates in between
A performance audit is typically a shorter, bounded engagement — a week or two depending on scope — rather than a full sprint.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an audit report, or do you also fix the issues?
Both. The default is findings plus applied fixes — you get the diagnosis and the remediation in the same engagement, not a report you then have to act on yourself.
What kind of score improvement can I expect?
It depends on the starting point and what's causing the problem. I'll tell you what's realistic after the baseline measurement — I won't promise a number before I've looked at the data.
How long does a performance audit take?
Typically one to two weeks: a few days to measure and diagnose, the rest to implement and re-measure. Larger codebases or significant rework takes longer — scoped accurately after the initial assessment.
Do you cover mobile performance?
Yes — Lighthouse mobile simulation and CrUX mobile field data are part of the baseline. Mobile is usually the harder constraint and is measured first.
